VIQS Level 1 is a free, self-paced introduction to Vendor / Source Inspection & Quality Surveillance.
It gives you a clear view of how inspection activities are planned and carried out during manufacturing — including the inspector’s role, document readiness, inspection points, manufacturing surveillance, findings, reporting and final release.
This course is designed as the first step in NTIA’s VIQS Training Programme before progressing to Level 2 or specialist inspection courses.
This course is designed for:
• New or aspiring vendor and source inspectors
• QA/QC personnel who need a practical introduction to inspection and quality surveillance
• Engineers and inspection coordinators working with purchase orders, ITPs, QCPs and supplier documentation
• Professionals in procurement, expediting or manufacturing who work alongside inspection teams
• Anyone considering a career path in vendor inspection before moving into specialist disciplines
By the end of this course, you will understand how to:
• Explain the purpose of vendor / source inspection and quality surveillance
• Define the inspector’s role, conduct and professional boundaries
• Recognise the key documents needed before an inspection visit
• Understand inspection points and manufacturing surveillance checkpoints
• Distinguish an observation from a nonconformity
• Understand the basics of inspection reporting, release and record close-out
